Change is in your hands -- you decide how to spend the city's budget in your park. How would you spend $115,000?
Change is in your hands
Improvements are coming to Elmsdale Park and we are trying out a new process to involve residents. We want the people who will be using the park to decide how the budget should be spent!
The city has $100,000 available for your park and the Lion’s Club of Pioneer Park has generously donated $15,000 for extra improvements.
Where is Elmsdale Park?
Elmsdale Park is a medium-sized park located at 55 Elmsdale Dr. (between Ottawa Street South and Chandler Drive). It is located in Ward 6. Grand River Transit Route #3 travels along Chandler Drive and Elmsdale Drive.
The existing playground is 20 years old. There is also a triple-toss basketball hoop, picnic table and bench, and a scrub ball diamond.
How does this work?
There are four steps:
- You tell us what you want in your park: Share your ideas to improve to the park by clicking on "Take the Survey" below.
- You rank your favourite ideas: The city will look into the ideas suggested and determine the cost of each item. In May, we will ask you to rank your favourite items.
- You vote on the design you like best: The city takes the top items chosen by voters, and creates several different design packages. Later in May, you vote on your favourite package.
- We fund the winning park design: The city funds the design package that people like the most. Our staff will start working on construction plans, with work scheduled for the fall of 2018 (weather permitting!).
To get started, we ask you to fill in a survey, which takes about 10 minutes to complete. This survey also includes a few questions to find out what you think about the process.
