Thank you for your comment! And thank you again for your patience.

The City of McKinney agrees that the Sam Rayburn Tollway (SH 121) is an important corridor for the city in terms of regional commercial and mixed use development potential. With that in mind, much of the base zoning along the corridor already allows for a range of commercial uses and mixed use development styles. To make the area even more attractive to those types of development styles, the city also proactively established the Corridor Commercial overlay district for the corridor in 2011 (as well as for US 380 and US 75). This overlay district builds in flexibility for properties along our regional corridors to allow for increased building heights up to a maximum of 12 stories. But, beyond just setting the stage for development through our regulations, the City of McKinney is also always actively looking at other tools and partnerships that can help preserve the development potential along our regional corridors for meaningful commercial opportunities (including mixed use developments just like Legacy West). Public-private partnerships, economic development incentives, and major marketing campaigns are just a few of the other things we are doing to help promote the SH 121 corridor for exciting new developments.

First, let me apologize for my very delayed response. My notification alerts for the platform were disabled without my knowledge and I did not see this comment until now.

I will work with our traffic/engineering department to track down an answer to your question for you.

Again sorry for the delay.

Update:
Highway 380 is actually a TxDot roadway and they do not provide continuous street lighting on their roadways. They do include "safety lighting" at each intersection, but we do understand that that may not be satisfactory.

Now that 380 is complete, the city can move forward on providing more street lighting when we have the funding to do so. We would love and welcome your suggestions on where to begin with installing them. Do you have a particular section of 380 that you feel is a priority?

Please feel free to comment below. Thank you!
