What do you think of the proposed road and drainage improvements planned for the Fernway Subdivision?
The Village of Orland Park has planned phases for street reconstruction and drainage improvements in the Fernway Subdivision. Improvements will be made throughout the subdivision during a multi-year project, with one section of the subdivision being completed each year, depending on funding availability.
In 2016, construction activities are planned for Robinhood Drive from 171st Street to 167th Street, and 167th Place from 88th Avenue to the end of the street (east of Robinhood Drive).
Plans are being finalized for the 2016 portion of the project, and you may see workers in the area investigating the existing facilities such as pavement, drainage pipes and manholes. At this time, the workers are only assessing the condition of the facilities to determine what repairs are necessary. Construction is scheduled to begin late this summer.
The following construction activities are anticipated:
- Complete removal and replacement of asphalt pavement
- Installation of concrete edging (known as ribbon curb) along streets (see pictures to the right)
- Grading of ditches
- Replacement of some drainage culverts under driveways and streets to improve flow
