If the City’s budget was $100 how would you allocate it?
The City of Baltimore makes budget decisions using a process called Outcome Budgeting. Using this process the budget is built around seven Priority Outcomes that are pivotal to growing Baltimore by 10,000 families over the next 10 years. Within each of these Priority Outcomes are City services that implement strategies to advance the Priority Outcomes.
Your challenge is to put a ‘value’ on the Priority Outcome that you think it most important to achieving Baltimore’s vision by spending $100.
The deadline to provide comment is by January 1st, 2015.
You can allocate these funds evenly to all the results or make investments in the Priority Outcome that you think is the highest value. Keep in mind by allocating these funds you are purchasing results that matter most to you.
By spending no money on a Priority Outcome you are telling City leaders they should stop funding services that meet that Priority. Even by making a ‘small’ investment you are indicating Baltimore has some level of stake in achieving the goals of that Priority Outcome.
