Over the last several years, the Salt Lake City Parks and Public Lands Program witnessed an increased need for off-leash areas for people to recreate with their animals. Recently, the Parks and Public Lands Program, in partnership with other City and County programs, spent several months researching off-leash area models from around the country in an effort to determine if additional services were needed in our community. Throughout 2012, Salt Lake City will be creating a program proposal using information gathered in our research and from public comment to provide an increased level of service for on-leash and off-leash facilities in our community. The City currently has seven off leash areas where guardians and their dogs are able to recreate together. Do you believe that this is an adequate amount of space for the current demand?
To this end, the City is hoping to receive feedback from Salt Lake City residents on various topics within the issue of off-leash dogs. We will be updating the site with new questions every few weeks, so please check back or subscribe to the topic. We look forward to hearing from you.
