The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is proposing a series of improvements to State Route 9 from Upper Hembree Road to Windward Parkway, including the section through Downtown Alpharetta that is commonly referred to as Main Street. The proposed improvements would create a consistent roadway throughout the corridor and would feature four 11-foot travel lanes, a 17-inch raised center median, a 4-foot bicycle lane in each direction, 11.5-ft shoulders with curb and gutters, a 2-foot landscape strip, and 5-foot sidewalks.
