Tell us what you think of the proposed improvements to reduce the risk of flooding in the Mill Creek Watershed area.
In 2015, the village completed the construction of Stage 1 Improvements in the Parkview Subdivision as part of the Mill Creek Watershed Improvement Project. The Stage I Improvements reduced the frequency of flooded homes, streets and backyards after heavy rains, primarily in the northeast portion of that subdivision.
The image to the right illustrates the preliminary layout for the Stage 2 Improvements that are currently being designed (click to view full-size). These additional improvements will reduce the risk of flooding for several areas in the Mill Creek Watershed, including the Parkview Subdivision, Villa West and Caro Vista.
The proposed design will significantly increase the storage capacity of the existing pond at the north end of the Evergreen View Subdivision, providing a dedicated overflow sewer from the Caro Vista Detention Facility to the proposed basin.
The design improvements are being finalized and it is anticipated that the project will begin construction in late summer/fall of 2016.
