What do you think about the future of Dunphy Park?
The park currently provides limited seating, a lawn area, a gazebo, a sand volleyball court, two bocce ball courts and a small beach area. With input from the public on what functions and features the park should provide, the Friends will develop an initial guideline for future development of the park. That Schematic Master Plan will be reviewed by City committees in public meetings and the Schematic Master Plan will be considered by the City Council in 2014.
Public Forum Topics
Topics for discussion at the Public Forum include such features as entryways and general pedestrian circulation, bicycle paths, restrooms, landscaping, parking, as well as active and passive use areas such as a bocce ball court and seating. The plan will also consider the design and use of the beach area along with shoreline and marine habitat restoration and maintenance. It will also consider what types of events should be accommodated in the park and with what frequency.
The Friends of Dunphy Park are collaborating with the City, Galilee Marina, Cass Marina, adjacent property owners and the public to develop the Schematic Master Plan to reflect the preferences of the local community. The park must also comply with land use, shoreline development laws and Purchase Agreements.
