Introduction

The courts at Towers Park have reached the end of their useful life and are in need of replacement. (The park is located about a block off Columbia Pike, near the intersection of Washington Blvd.) As part of Arlington County Maintenance Capital Program, funding for improvements was approved by the County Board for FY2013.  Arlington County Department of Parks and Recreation has prepared two design concepts based a comments received by park users and is seeking your input to determine which design to construct.

Both concepts will include the following features:

New tennis and basketball court surfacing and court dimensions to meet current United States Tennis Association and National Collegiate Athletic Association design standards; new 12' high chain link fence with screens and low curb wall between dog areas and tennis courts to prevent runoff onto courts, new lighting, nets, hoops and backstop. Additional improvements include new seating, new trash receptacles, drinking fountain; new accessible (ADA) walkways to all facilities and courts, accessible improvements to the parking lot, new picnic shelter, improved site drainage, portable restroom shelter and landscaping (plants, groundcover and trees).
