There is a contraversy as to whether or not the people of Berkeley want a higher population density here or perhaps lower. The City Council seems to be taking the stand of higher density from some outside forces including the trend towards transit villages, for example. Many of us like the smaller town atmosphere of Berkeley and do not want a city of high rise apartments. Shouldn't we have a city wide referendum on this before the City Council and Zoning Board vote for more high rise apartment buildings?
