Should Berkeley City Council Affirm that Free Speech & Assembly rights apply to U.S. Military Recruiters?
Arguments have been made about the right of the USMC Officer Selection Office to continue to exist. Even some Council members have spoken against the appropriateness of the Office remaining open -- in a town like Berkeley.
To shut down this Office nullifies any Berkeley claim to support for tolerance and Free Speech. Free Speech must include speech with which one disagrees; tolerance applies only when there are possible differences of opinion or choice.
Should Council Members support the right of this Office to exist in Berkeley?
